Haverhill's Summer Essentials 2023
There's nothing quite like summer in New England. Summertime living feels so effortless and easy – leisurely meals eaten al fresco, salty ocean breezes, long afternoons spent poolside, and days that linger long past 8pm. The small Rhode Island towns where I live and work are transformed during the warm months, with sailboats cruising down the bay and throngs of happy beachgoers relaxing on the shore.
I'm ready for summer to start! Discover some of the seasonal essentials I'll be wearing and using from now 'til Labor Day.

1. Brimmed Straw Hat
To kickstart my circadian rhythm, I try to soak in the morning sun sans SPF until 10am – but when the afternoon sun comes with its high UV index, I like to stay fully shaded. I love how a natural straw hat goes with everything in my wardrobe, with a chic summer vibe.
2. Rosecliff Small Circle Diamond Necklace
This elegant, timeless piece is versatile enough to go from ocean swimming with my kids to going on a date with my hubby. Perfect for layering but also beautiful on its own – and I know the Diamonds will always be sparkling bright.
3. Turkish Towel
When there's a slight evening chill, I wear it as a scarf. On the beach, it's a sarong over my swimsuit or simply a soft towel to lie on. Lightweight and oversized, it still dries quickly and folds down to almost nothing.
4. Travel Backgammon Board
Backgammon is by far my favorite board game and something my whole family enjoys. We play it all summer long, and I love how it distracts my kids from thinking of screens! Growing up, I had a towel that doubled as a backgammon board for the beach, but I much prefer this compact version that we can take anywhere – including the dinner table.
5. Mini Portable Speaker
