Bringing Light and Joy

Bringing Light and Joy

Yesterday I went to an inspiring talk by my friend and college roommate, Gabby Bernstein, a motivational speaker, life coach and New York Times best-selling author.  I am beyond proud of how far Gabby has come, both professionally and personally. She has just launched a new book, Super Attractor, Methods for Manifesting a Life Beyond Your Wildest Dreams, a book about becoming the happiest person you know. Gabby urged us to "set your mind to bring more light to the world".  Always a good lesson.

Jewelry may not bring world peace or end hunger but it makes people feel good.  Jewelry empowers, makes you feel beautiful and is extremely personal. Giving and receiving jewelry and the gratitude it brings creates positive energy and is an affirmation of what we value the most. I love to be a part of that!

After my son was born a decade ago on December 19, he and I stayed in the hospital for a little while because he had jaundice. Unfortunately, this defined the need to spend his first and my daughter’s second Christmas in a hospital room; clearly not what I had desired! Soon, my mother came to visit and brought me a simple, faux black pearl and rhinestone necklace on a black grosgrain ribbon from J. Crew. Mom gave it to me and said "I just figured you needed a bit of sparkle". I put the necklace on and my spirits were lifted. It wasn't something that I had to try on and worry about fitting into just after having a baby, I just easily threw it on and felt shiny and good, as simple as that. I will never forget this loving gesture and how I felt when I put on this jazzy necklace over my hospital clothes.

At the end of her talk, Gabby reminded us to "have fun along the way". I am definitely having fun, creating and sharing with you what I do and love. HAVERHILL is about “bringing more light to the world”, spreading sparkle and joy.
